Humiliation!!! [Mar. 2nd, 2008|08:33 pm]

Mario Schneider's "Historical Introduction to Modern Politics" class. Japan in the 20th century. In general, I've noticed that all the "quick and shallow summary of subject X" classes will have a lot of inaccuracies or omissions obvious to anyone with in-depth knowledge of the subject. But this lecture is just full of blatantly obvious mistakes. So I'm sitting and seething, and when he finises an argument with another student (based on totally erroneous assumptions on the parts of both) with "If anyone can prove me wrong based on actual, documented events, feel free to do so" my hand shoots up at the speed of light.

He FREAKING points at me, and asks me to speak.

"If I may"

"Actually, you may not. Keep your thoughts to yourself, and we will proceed with the class".

The class, naturally, finds it most amusing. I, instead of spitting in his face or poking his eye out with a ball pen, simply sit there, even participating in the class out of sheer inertia.

After the class I approach him...

"That was a fairly horrible, humiliating thing to do."

"Well, you can choose not to attend the lectures".

Which, again, invites the eye-pen relationship, but...
I will do nothing. I will continue to attend the lectures, probably even participating, seeing how there's no force in the 'verse that can force me to shut up. Possibly give him a horrible teacher evaluation at the end of the year. Yeah, that's going to be my terrible revenge.

Bah
